Who Are Sydney Authors Inked?
We are a group of local authors who want to share our experiences with readers, authors, and all lovers of words.
What Do We Offer?
Author / Book Talks
We host free book / author talks for book lovers and authors to learn more about the craft of writing, what inspires the author’s work, and so much more. During each event two authors join us to either discuss their books or offer writing advice, covering a wide range of topics. These workshops are open to everybody of all ages interested in becoming an author, wanting to learn how to be an author, wanting to know more about self-publishing, and more. Authors offer their books for sale at the event.
Book Festivals
We also host a local author book festival where authors can come along and sell their books to the public. These festivals offer authors a chance to network with other creative writers and meet local book lovers, all while promoting their books.
Recent Events
On Sunday 7 April, we held a wonderful free event at The Little Big House, Summer Hill. Author Conchita GarSantiago spoke about historical fiction and how to write in this genre. We also heard from Rachel Lim from www.coverpalette.com who provided a yummy light lunch and gave attendees flyers offering $100 off book cover designs and packages.
We hosted our local author book festival on Saturday, April 20th. A great day was had by all. Authors who attended made new friends and introduced members of the public to new exciting reads.
Upcoming Events
Our next author talk is happening on Sunday the 2 June at The Little Big House, Summer Hill. We have another two wonderful authors who will talk about their books.
Judith O’Connor, author, journalist, and editor, will be our first speaker. She will talk about her latest collection of short stories titled ‘War is not Suitable for Children’ (Ginninderra Press), which has received widespread acclaim. Judith has also written a novel titled 'Song of Solace', set in Eveleigh Railway Workshops in the 1920s and a memoir.
Then, the lovely Bel Vidal, author of 'Exuberance', will be in Conversation with Sydney Authors Inked. This Bolivian-born Australian writer has been living in Sydney since 1988. Bel also received an Australian Council of the Arts grant to publish a bilingual collection of her poems and short stories, 'Arcoiris de Sueños / Rainbow of Dreams'.

Hayley Walsh (I think my blog readers might recognise this author 😉)
Hayley was born and bred in Sydney. She lives in far western Sydney with her partner, two stepsons, and two adorable cavoodles named Honey and Sid. She is a coffee addict and has a wicked sense of humour. Hayley’s sense of humour is brought to life in her story telling. Hayley works as a Clinical Nurse Consultant for Aged Care at one of Sydney’s large teaching hospitals and draws much inspiration for her writing from her work with older patients.
You can find Hayley and her work at
Ross Venner
Ross Venner was born in Portsmouth, colloquially 'The Home of the Royal Navy.' Unsurprisingly, his writing often encompasses maritime tales. When not writing, he is a sailor and boat builder passing his skills to young people.

Conchita GarSantiago
Conchita GarSantiago was born, grew up, and studied in Spain. Once she finished her studies, she headed to London to immerse herself in the English language, where she earned degrees in English from both Cambridge University and the London Business School.
She did several courses in Tafe and Wea and also took part in and created different writing groups.
Her stories have been published on different websites, local magazines and she has contributed to two different anthologies with two stories in each of them.
The most significant accomplishment for her is her historical-fiction book called "A Cry for Home." Furthermore, she has published a collection of her short stories and a book featuring five crime stories.
