Do you enjoy an engaging memoir? Maybe you love being immersed in a thriller that has
you on the edge of you seat? If you answered yes to either of these questions, and live in
Sydney, be sure to join us on the 1st of September.
But, before we tell you all about our next exciting event, let us tell you about our last
wonderful event held on the 4th August. We were lucky enough to host the amazing Veronica Strachan, author and co-host of 'The Australian Booklovers Podcast'.
Veronica Strachan
It was a lovely afternoon filled with engaging conversation, laughter, networking, and lots
of fun. Veronica shared her wisdom and inspiration with us all. There were lots of great
questions from the audience which generated lots of interesting discussion.
Many of us here at Sydney Authors Inked originally connected and got to know one another through being guests on Veronica’s Podcast and we have all been fans of the show since its conception. It was great to meet her in person and be able to host the face to face chat.
He we all are with the wonderful Veronica Strachan
Now, onto our next event. On Sunday the 1 st September, we will be in conversation with best selling author Ashley Kalagian Blunt. Ashley is the author of Dark Mode, an internationally published psychological thriller.
Ashley Kalagian Blunt
Her earlier books are 'How to Be Australian', a memoir, and 'My Name Is Revenge', collected
fiction and essays, which was a finalist in the 2018 Carmel Bird Digital Literary Award. Her
writing appears in the Sydney Morning Herald, Overland, Griffith Review, Sydney Review of
Books, Australian Book Review, Kill Your Darlings and more.
Ashley co-hosts 'James and Ashley Stay at Home', a podcast about writing, creativity and
health, and teaches creative writing. Originally from Canada, she has lived and worked in
South Korea, Peru and Mexico.
This will be a great chat with lots of laughter, I’m sure. I had the great privilege of
interviewing Ashley when I hosted 'The Write Words Podcast' and I distinctively recall a very
funny story about a huntsman spider who was missing one of its legs in the bedroom.
We will be chatting to Ashley about her journey from being born and raised in Canada to
living here in Australia, what inspires her, her writing, her podcast, teaching creative writing, and we will be taking a deep dive in into her best-selling book titled 'Dark Mode'.
This book explores how much of ourselves we expose online and just how vulnerable we can be. The book gave me chills down my spine. A real page turner. I can’t wait to find out what inspired Ashley to pen the story and find out what’s coming next.
The event will be held from 1230-1430 at The Little Big House (16 Flour Mill Way,
Summer Hill NSW 2130). Tickets are free at https://humanitix.com/au or you can scan the
code on promo flyer below.
There will be light refreshments on offer and a fun afternoon awaits. So, what are you
waiting for Sydney, get your free tickets now.
