Jill Mansell is a new author for me and I will most definitely be reading more of this author's books. I loved it. If you intend to read it, I suggest you have a box of tissues handy because it’s a tearjerker!
In this story, we meet Hallie, Tasha, and Flo. These women don’t know each other, but their lives will soon cross paths in the most beautiful way. These ladies all live very different lives in different parts of the UK.
Hallie has cystic fibrosis and is on the waiting list for a new pair of lungs. She sadly knows her days are numbered if she does not receive a lifesaving transplant soon. She secretly harbours feelings for her handsome and caring doctor, but keeps it to herself. Her life is already complicated enough.
Tasha meets a handsome and enchanting stranger while fishing her lost credit card out of a bin. Their mutual attraction is instant, but will their very different tastes put a spanner in the works?
Flo inherits a cat, and with the cat comes a flat. Two siblings with very different personalities were expecting to inherit it and are not happy. Flo falls in love with the brother, leaving his sister seething. Will the awful sister succeed in breaking them up?
The three paths cross a few times throughout the book, but they are all unaware until the end where their lives all merge is a heart-warming and emotional way. Have the tissues ready. No trust me, you will need them.
The author has created likeable and relatable main characters. The supporting characters are great too, adding more depth to the story throughout the book. I kept turning the pages until the very end.
This book had me laughing one minute and crying the next. It deals with some difficult subjects. It is an emotional story, but it is also uplifting. The author approaches it all sensitively.
Although one character is gravely ill, the book remains light-hearted throughout and is not dark or depressing.
I give it 5 stars.
